since the bomb attacks. we're learning more about the victims' and devices used by the bombers. >> emily schmidt is joining us live from boston with an update on the investigation. >> he was never sat or down he was happy and cheerful and ready to go. he was just all around a wonderful kid. >> and boston university graduate student from china were also killed in the blast. >> investigators a not sure whether the attack which came with no warning was foreign or domestic. >> at this time there are no claims of responsibility. the range of suspects and motives remains wide open. >> the fbi began piecing together what caused the blast analyzing debris from the bomb. >> among items recovered are pieces of black nylon which could be from a back pack

and what appear to be fragments of bbs and nails possibly contained in a pressure cooker device. >> no matter who was responsible boston residents are refusing to let this attack define their city. >> terrorism is about creating fear in changing the way you live. >> we will not do that. i refuse to do it! >> president obama has been receiving briefings especially over night on this incident. however, he will come to boston tomorrow for an interfaith prayer service scheduled for tomorrow morning. reporting live in boston. i am emily schmidt n. >> a bay area boy was at the site of the marathon is scheduled to undergo another surgery today. he was wounded in the blast. 11 year-old asron hern of cortines, was along the raise route, cheering on his

mother at the time of the explosion. his grandmother is shocked at what has happened to her grandson. >> it is heartbreaking that you have to go places and not be comfortable that we're going to be safe. we're trying to make the best of it and put our faith in our government. i hope president obama will take care of this. >> he is a bright, happy, very athletic. he plays football, baseball, basketball. he does really very well in school. >> aaron is in stable condition although he is in the intensive care unit. the family will stand boston for least another weekeries. >> teachers and students at his school are looking into how can help the family. >> the city of martinez is a close-knit community. and when word without that one of their own, the hern family became victims of the boston marathon attack. they

sprung into action. >> the owners of the roxx restaurant on main street held a fund raiser dinner that was supported and promoted by the restaurant. >> people from all around martinez community cannot support the family off and to enjoy the meal. >> the owners of the roxx restaurants say they stopped counting meals, was hit about 150 people. >> they were a very community oriented people we wanted to do something to help. >> how has it been? it looks pretty good pretty good it was phenomenal. we sold out. we had to shut the door. i could not have plans for anything as successful. >> cortinewe will have more coverage of the boston marathon bombings and the latest on the investigation brought the morning.

highway 92. the drive 12-13 minutes. >> south bound 101, a handful of cars working of the north bay into san francisco. >> no wait at the toll plaza. no incidents to report and we're seeing green on the road way censors coming out of the north bay. >> thank you erica. five teenagers are in custody this morning for the murder of a bay area paramedic killed in the oakland hills earlier this month. police said the suspects have been charged with killing each in t quinn boyer . o pd says there was only one personal pull the trigger, but all five are being charged with homicide, robbery, and carjacking. investigators say this is an isolated incident. all the teenagers involved are between 14 and 16 years old and lived in oakland. police recovered the car involved in the murder two days after it happen but they're still looking for the murder weapon.

three suspects before or after the hearing at juvenile hall yesterday morning in san jose. the boys were arrested last week at saratoga high school, in connection with the september 2012 incident the assault allegedly occurred at a house party, after she passed out from drinking, according to our attorney. a week later, audrey committed suicide when the lewd photograph of her prodigiwere digitally passed among their classmates. a county prosecutor also declined to comment about the case positively but did allied with court is considering as it decides whether to release the boys of custody. >> they have a stable home but consider whether the minor is going to school, are they truant, what type of stability they have. the court will consider all the factors in making a decision and determining whether they should remain in juvenile hall pending the case. >> on monday, the pott

family and their attorney addressed the media calling for the defendants to be tried in open court, as adults. a decision on that could take up to a month. >> a bipartisan drive to expand background checks on gun is in trouble this morning. today, the senate plan to vote on the proposal. but a growing number of republicans are voicing their opposition to the measure. so unless supporters of the bill concern owes around the measure sure to be defeated. a survey done this month shows a 49 percent of americans favor strict gun- control. that is down from the 58% in january just after the shooting in new town, conn. >> president obama is urging the senate to move quickly on a comprehensive immigration overall drafted by a bipartisan group of senators. obamas says the bill is a compromise measure that nobody will get everything he wants, including him. but he says it is largely consistent

>> thank you erica. >> a mixed the terror that unfolded in boston, there were many acts of bravery as well. after bombs exploded, quick action by first responders and average people undoubtedly saved many lives. kron fours charles clifford has look at video showing how people helped one another. >> come to help out with the raise. there are also a few people running the marathon watching from the stands. >> video of the explosions have been played over and over. if you keep watching you can see the first responders rushing toward the chaos. they're trying to help the wounded and dying. here you can see people in banking and pulling only fallen fence trying to reach the wounded seconds after the first explosion a second bomb went off down the street. >> once again you could see people running toward the the danger even though they have no idea what is happening. >> in all 183 people were injured. three have died. many survivors are crediting

their survival to the first responders whom they do not even know. >> in the newsroom charles clifford kron 4 news. >> u.s. senator roger wicker is targeted with a letter that tested positive for potentially deadly poison. and all of tested positive for ricin . it was addressed to the mississippi senator. the letter was intercepted at an off site screening center on capitol hill. senator weicker and his staff are ok. he has been given a protective detail. ricin is a highly toxic substance. at present about the size of the head of a pen can kill adult. >> a deadly meningitis

strain is killed two men in southern california. health authorities believe this one is stripped out into contact. meningitis caused swelling in the brain and is considered lethal if not treated. los angeles health authorities held a press conference yesterday saying that the two men recently contract of bacterial meningitis or both at a gathering of thousand gay men in palm springs. they're offering free vaccines in west hollywood to anyone who thinks they are at risk. >> pat summerall, a football player turned legendary play-by-play announcer, died tuesday at age 82 of cardiac arrest in dallas, texas. summerall and a total of 50 years as part of the nfl, as a player in that hall of fame broadcaster on cbs and fox. is final broadcast with john madden was 2002 superbowl. is broadcast 16 superbowl of more than any

her status as the commanding political figure. world leaders and dignitaries from 170 countries are attending the funeral of former british prime minister margaret thatcher today. it is expected to be in a lavish affair with full military honors and a service at st. paul's cathedral and london. the queen and a husband prince philip will be among the mourners, who include 11 prime ministers from around the world, a former u.s. secretary of state henry kissinger and former u.s. vice president dick cheney. thatcher died last week after suffering a stroke. she is 87. >> when we come back we'll have the latest on the investigation into the boston marathon bombings. as far as we know the bombs were made in a pressure cooker and had shrapnel and ball bearings and all of that inside of it. are we any closer to finding out

>> welcome back. the time is 428. the motive remains a mystery this morning federal agents are zeroing in on how the boston marathon bombings were carried out. >> federal agents know the method used. fbi says a pressure cooker and a black bag or part of the bombs. what we know this morning three people are confirmed dead killed in the blast. more than 180 people were injured after an explosion ripped through the crowded finish line on monday. it is still not known who was behind the deadly attack and whether they are foreign or domestic terrorist and why they did it. >> president obama plans to visit boston to attend and
